Police Department

Dear Citizens of Port Richey,

Since my arrival here in the last week of May, the police department has accomplished a great deal.  All of the police officers and civilian employees have worked very hard to improve their delivery of services to the members of our community.

The search for a new police chief is underway.  The closing period for applicants ends the week of August 11th.  The application list will then be narrowed by interviews, background checks and analysis of the information contained within the applications themselves.  Barring any unforeseen issues, a new police chief could be in place within the next six weeks.

We are working on the final draft of our new budget.  This should be ready for budget hearings in September.

It has been a privilege to work in your community.  The warm welcome that I have received has made my job much easier and very gratifying.

Sincerely,

James. M. Gabbard

Interim Chief of Police
